We Went to Preston and It Was Closed

Picture of Paul, the chefWell, I’ve been here at Preston for three months(ish) now and I have to say that apart from the weather, So far I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here.

I won’t say it’s been easy coming from a well established community like Brighton to a brand new community like Preston. However I feel that there are similarities. Everyone has been nothing but friendly and helpful and I have been made to feel very welcome.
Perhaps this has to do something with the fact that I am the Chef and provide 2 (good?) cooked meals a day.

We have not been without our problems as a new community but thanks to good management and a great core group of experienced companions we have managed to not only open our retail outlet on time, but have exceeded all expectations in our first couple of weeks trading.

Since arriving here I have learnt more about how Emmaus works and particularly about solidarity. Other communities, both near and far, have been very kindly helping us get up and running, be it through donating goods to sell or lending us companions.
Thanks for the help Graeme and Nick. To me Preston is proof that Emmaus works.
